Top Diaper Bags for New Moms: Must-Have Picks for Style and Functionality

With my first baby, I had ALL THE TRADITIONAL stuff that all first-time moms are pitched/sold/bought, etc. That included diaper bags, of course. As a result of marketing, baby showers and general over spending as a first time pregnant person, I had three.

The first was a backpack that was pretty unsightly at best. The second one was a traditional shoulder bag that was bulky, and I could never find anything in (yes, I had all the zippered pouches and compartments and do-dads!). The third was given to me by a friend – a designer diaper bag (ok fine, I’m talking Gucci) that didn’t fit a diaper! Maybe that is why she gave it to me…

Because of this, I was determined to find a bag that was not only stylish but also functional and minimal (because, yes, I have all the zipper pouches…) so finally, here are my favorites that fit all budgets, shapes, and sizes.

They range from backpack to bag to fanny pack so you can have more than one. Also, I don’t put a ton of stuff in my diaper bag (I have found you don’t need half of it). Still, I also keep a diaper caddy or as I like to call it, an “Oh Sh*t Kit” in the back of my car for easy grab-and-go options in case my bag runs out or I forget something when I am packing it at home.

Lululemon New Parent Backpack

I love this because it doesn’t look like a diaper bag (because it isn’t!)! It has pockets, it is waterproof, and can fit everything you need for you and your baby…and then some.

STATE Lorimer Diaper Bag

The State Lorimer Diaper Bag Backpack is a perfect pick for new moms who want to look stylish while staying organized and functional. This bag is designed with a spacious interior that can fit all the essentials you need while on the go. It has multiple pockets and compartments that help you keep everything organized and easily accessible.

Parker Thatch Cross Your Heart Sling

I LOVE this bag.

The Parker Thatch Cross Your Heart Sling is a bit expensive, but it is worth every penny. The bag can be used as a diaper bag or as a purse while going out. It is designed to keep all your essentials organized and within reach. The bag is made from high-quality materials that make it durable and long-lasting. The adjustable strap ensures that the bag fits comfortably on any body type.

Fanny packs have made a comeback and are now being seen as a stylish and practical alternative to traditional diaper bags. They offer a hands-free option for parents who are juggling their little ones and need to keep their hands free. One of the best fanny packs in the market is the Parker Thatch Cross Your Heart Sling. It is an amazing product that is not only versatile but also beautiful.

Calpak Luca Duffel

The Calpak Luca Duffle is a fantastic alternative for moms who want style and function in a diaper bag. Not only is it spacious enough to carry all the essentials needed for a day out with the baby, but it also comes in a chic design that makes it look more like a fashionable handbag than a typical diaper bag. The bag is made of durable materials that can withstand everyday wear and tear, and it features multiple pockets that allow for easy organization of baby gear. The adjustable shoulder strap makes it easy to carry, and the bag’s overall design is both stylish and practical.

Paravel Large Cabana Tote

This one’s for my preppy gals! This bag comes in a few sizes and they have options for the whole family if you want to use it as a diaper bag or get some new travel bags for everyone to show youre a team! Durable, lots of pockets and a great bag for ALL THE STUFF!Calling all preppy ladies! Check out this versatile bag that comes in a variety of sizes. With options for the whole family, you can use it as a diaper bag or grab some matching travel bags for the whole squad. It’s durable, has plenty of pockets, and is perfect for carrying ALL THE STUFF!

Mark + Graham Lightweight Packable Puffer Tote

I adore a statement bag, and this one truly stands out. The metallic versions are fabulous, and it’s also possible to get it monogrammed. They come in different sizes, so you can get one for yourself and one for your little one!

Target Featherweight Travel Bag

Vera Bradley is making a comeback! I adore this bag due to its two strap options, size, and shape. It looks way more expensive than its actual cost and is an excellent choice if you’re trying to stay within a certain budget.

Kibou Vegan Leather Diaper Bag

Another fanny pack! But wait, these are actually diaper bags with all the bells and whistles. It’s a great option for both moms and dads as it looks like a regular bag, but when unfolded, it comes equipped with a changing pad, a wipe dispenser, and adjustable straps that anyone can wear!

Canvelle Fanny Pack

I love the patterns of Canvelle bags. It has a water-resistant pocket and comes with an optional over-the-shoulder strap (get here HERE) to add functionality.

Amazon Quilted Tote Bag

I found an amazing quilted bag on Amazon that is a cost-effective alternative to some of the pricier options. What’s great about this bag is that it looks and feels expensive, but it’s a great bargain. So, even if you accidentally spill something on it, you won’t feel as bad as you would with a more expensive bag. It’s perfect to keep in your car as a backup bag or for when you forget your primary bag. It’s also great to have as an extra bag when someone else is looking after your kids. Plus, you can order it now and have it delivered by this afternoon!
